Duolingo English Test (DET) for study abroad
The Duolingo English Test is taken online from home in about an hour. Many universities accept it for admission, but several visa systems do not, so check both before you rely on it.

02 Before you pay
Admission is not the same as a visa
- The test costs US$70 and is taken from home. [1]
- You pay in your test account; after buying you have 21 days to complete it. [2]
- Sending results to institutions is free. [3]
- Australia lists the English tests it accepts for visas, and fully online tests are excluded; Duolingo is not among them. [4]
- A UK university can accept it for admission at degree level (it assesses English itself), but below degree level the UK visa needs a SELT. [5]
