Prelim if needed, then three mains papers
- Exams are computer-based or OMR, and marks of different shifts are normalised. All questions are objective: 3 marks for a correct answer, 1 mark deducted for a wrong one.

Local resident certificate in Jharkhand's format
- Every candidate claiming reservation needs a Jharkhand local resident certificate in the prescribed form — from the SDO (issued on or after 2 June 2016) or the Circle Officer (issued on or after 19 July 2019). Certificates made on the father's or husband's basis are accepted.

- A central OBC certificate is not accepted. Certificates issued for education or army admission are not accepted.
- Women who migrated to Jharkhand by marriage get no reservation (Personnel Department letter 235 of 10 January 2019).
- Sportspersons are reserved posts under the 2007 sports resolution; women, PwD and sports quotas are shown per post. [1]
Checked at certificate verification
- Matriculation certificate (name and date of birth must match the application) and Intermediate certificate and mark sheets.
- Local resident certificate and caste / non-creamy-layer / EWS certificate in the appendix formats.
- Disability certificate, ex-servicemen papers, sports certificates where claimed.
- Without the original documents at verification, reservation is refused and candidature can be cancelled. [1]
