Government recruitment exams

Who allots B.Tech seats in Uttar Pradesh
UPTAC is the single counselling for first-year B.Tech seats in AKTU-affiliated colleges. Below: who runs it, how seats are shared out, and the round-1 closing rank at three government institutes.

How seats are allotted
- Government, aided and government self-financed institutes fill 100% of first-year seats through UPTAC; private colleges fill 85% through UPTAC and 15% through management / NRI quota at the institute. [1]
- Regular rounds are open to candidates who passed the qualifying exam in UP or whose father or mother is domiciled in UP. Everyone else is considered only in the special round. [1]
- Seats reserved for UP candidates: SC 21%, ST 2%, OBC 27%, EWS 10%. Within these, up to 20% go to women, up to 5% to children of defence personnel, up to 5% to divyangjan and up to 2% to dependents of freedom fighters. [1]
- Seats go strictly by rank, choice order and category. Unreserved candidates who studied at a rural institution in UP get 3% added to their entrance marks. [1]
