Registered Valuer (IBBI) — Valuing Property, Plant & Securities

8 min read · Registered with IBBI · Qualification + experience in the asset class

A Registered Valuer gives the independent valuations that the Companies Act and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code require — for mergers, insolvency cases and share issues. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) registers valuers in three asset classes after they join a Registered Valuers Organisation (RVO), complete a 50-hour educational course and pass IBBI's valuation exam.

Overview

What does a Registered Valuer do?

  • Registered Valuers value assets where the law requires an independent valuer — insolvency resolutions, mergers, share issues and other company transactions.
  • There are three asset classes: Land and Building, Plant and Machinery, and Securities or Financial Assets.
  • A valuation report must follow valuation standards and can be examined by regulators and courts.
