Delhi Police Constable (Executive) is recruited by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and is one of the most popular police jobs for Class 12 pass students. This guide also explains how constable recruitment works in state police forces, which follow a similar pattern through state boards.
Delhi Police Constable (Executive) is recruited through an SSC computer-based exam, followed by a Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE&MT) and medical examination. Vacancies are announced separately for men, women and ex-servicemen.
State police constables are recruited by each state's police recruitment board — for example LRD/Police in Gujarat, UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Maharashtra Police Bharti or Bihar CSBC. The stages are similar (written exam, physical test, medical), but qualification, age limit, physical standards and syllabus differ by state.
Class 12 in any stream is accepted.
The exam includes computer fundamentals — MS Word, Excel, internet and email.
State police exams often test state-specific General Knowledge (GK) and the state language.
