Design & Creative Arts Careers: NIFT, NID, BFA & Film
Creative careers run through design, fine arts, film, animation, media and performing arts. Entry often depends on a portfolio or studio test as well as marks. This page covers the best-known routes: NIFT and NID for design, UCEED for IIT design programmes, BFA for fine arts, and film and animation institutes.
Design: NIFT, NID and UCEED
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) offers fashion, textile and accessory design, and its entrance includes a General Ability Test and a Creative Ability Test for design programmes, with a situation test at a later stage for some courses.
The National Institute of Design (NID) admits to its B.Des programmes through the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), with a prelims stage followed by a studio test and interview. UCEED is the entrance test for B.Des programmes at the IITs and some other institutes. Dates and patterns change, so check each notification.

- Look at animation programmes at design institutes and universities.
- Intern at studios and production houses.
