Kerala PSC Police Constable (Cat. 563/2025) & Village Field Assistant (Cat. 571/2025) — Age, Physical Test, Pay
The Kerala Public Service Commission recruits for Kerala Government service through One Time Registration. This page follows two notifications in the Extraordinary Gazette of 15 December 2025: Police Constable (Trainee) (Armed Police Battalion), Category No. 563/2025, and Village Field Assistant (Revenue), Category No. 571/2025.
Two posts, two very different routes
- Police Constable (Trainee) (Armed Police Battalion), Category No. 563/2025 — Kerala Police; anticipated vacancies; Plus Two; last date 14 January 2026, midnight. [1]
- Village Field Assistant, Category No. 571/2025 — Revenue Department; anticipated vacancies; SSLC; last date 14 January 2026, midnight. [2]
Police Constable selection is battalion-wise — SAP (Thiruvananthapuram), KAP III, KAP V, KAP I, KAP II, MSP and KAP IV — and a candidate may apply to only one battalion. Each battalion's ranked list stays in force for one year. [1]
Village Field Assistant lists are district-wise for all 14 districts; apply to one district only. A ranked list stays in force for at least one year and at most three. [2]
Plus Two for Police, SSLC for VFA
- Police Constable: men only (women and differently abled candidates are not eligible). Age 18–26 — born between 2 January 1999 and 1 January 2007 — relaxed to 29 for OBC, 31 for SC / ST and 41 for ex-servicemen; no other relaxation applies. Qualification: Plus Two (HSE) or equivalent; SC / ST candidates who failed Plus Two are considered if not enough qualified candidates are available.
- Physical standards: height 168 cm and chest 81 cm with 5 cm expansion (SC / ST: 160 cm and 76 cm, same expansion). Vision 6/6 distant and 0.5 near in each eye without glasses; colour blindness, squint, knock-knee, flat foot, varicose veins and similar defects disqualify. [1]
- Village Field Assistant: age 18–36 — born between 2 January 1989 and 1 January 2007 — with the usual relaxation for OBC and SC / ST, but never above 50. Qualification: a pass in SSLC or equivalent. 4% of vacancies are reserved for differently abled candidates. [2]
General Conditions — upper-age relaxations (unless the post's notification says otherwise; never beyond 50) [3]
| Group | Extra years |
|---|---|
| OBC | 3 |
| SC / ST (also people who left SC for another religion as adults, and their children; ST keeps it after conversion) | 5 |
| Ex-servicemen | Length of defence service + up to 5 years of unemployment after discharge |
| Blind / low vision, deaf / hard of hearing (benchmark disability, 40%+) | 15 |
| Locomotor disability, cerebral palsy, dwarfism, acid-attack victims, other listed disabilities | 10 |
| Former inmates of approved orphanages, rescue, juvenile and special homes | Up to 10 |
| Ex-Home Guards with 3+ years' service | Service + unemployment, up to 7 |
| Widows | 5 |
| Provisional / temporary government service of 1+ year | Length of that service, up to 5 |
- Nationality: an Indian citizen, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries to settle in India. All but Indian citizens need an eligibility certificate from the Government of India.
- Character and marriage: good character is required; unless the Government has exempted it, a man may not have more than one living wife and a woman may not marry a man who already has a wife.
- SC / ST candidates (and SC converts and their children) who are otherwise qualified are not barred by the upper age limit when the post needs less than a degree and they hold a higher qualification, or when the post needs a degree and they hold at least that.
- SC / ST candidates may be accepted with a third class in a degree or diploma where the post asks for first or second class (except college teaching posts). [3]
General Conditions — weightage and extra marks [3]
| Who | Benefit |
|---|---|
| NCC 'A', 'B', 'C' certificate — uniformed-force posts (Police, Jail, Excise, Forest, Fire & Rescue) | 2%, 3%, 5% weightage |
| Student Police Cadet (completed) — uniformed-force posts | Weightage (G.O. of 1 Mar 2025) |
| Meritorious sportspersons — Class III and IV posts | Extra marks, with certificates countersigned by the Kerala Sports Council secretary |
| Ex-servicemen | Weightage marks by length of service |
Confirm first; Police adds a five-of-eight physical test
- If a written, OMR or online test is held, you must submit a confirmation through your One Time Registration profile within the notified window; only confirmed candidates can download the admission ticket in the last 15 days, and unconfirmed applications are rejected.
- Police Constable physical efficiency test (National Physical Efficiency One Star standard) — pass any five of eight: 100 m in 14 s; high jump 132.20 cm; long jump 457.20 cm; shot put (7.264 kg) 609.60 cm; cricket-ball throw 6,096 cm; rope climb 365.80 cm (hands only); 8 pull-ups; 1,500 m in 5 min 44 s. Measurements are taken first; an injury during the test gets no second chance.
- Weightage: NCC 'A', 'B' and 'C' certificates add 2%, 3% and 5%; Student Police Cadet certificates and meritorious sportspersons also get weightage or extra marks. [1]
Kerala PSC OMR test — marking [4]
| Response | Marks |
|---|---|
| Correct answer | +1 |
| Wrong answer | −1/3 |
| More than one bubble, or an altered answer | Treated as wrong (−1/3) |
| Not a single question answered | OMR sheet invalidated |
Worked example: 60 correct and 15 wrong gives 60 − 15 × 1/3 = 60 − 5 = 55 marks. Three wrong answers cancel one right answer, so a blind guess among four options does not pay on average. [4]
- You get an OMR sheet and question booklet with the same alpha code (A / B / C / D) as on your seat; a mismatch invalidates your paper. Write your register number, date of birth, post and date in Part A; answers go in Part B with a blue or black ball-point pen.
- Sheets are replaced only for a printing defect. Do not touch the barcode; separate Part A and Part B along the dotted line only when told, and hand in both.
- After the test, Kerala PSC publishes the A-code question paper and provisional answer keys of all versions; complaints go only through the answer-key link in your profile, within the deadline. [4]
The number of questions and time for each test are set in that test's syllabus and exam calendar, not in the notification.
No application fee
No application fee is required. You register once through One Time Registration; a photograph uploaded to the profile stays valid for 10 years. [1]
Community as recorded in the SSLC book
- If the caste or community you claim differs from the entry in your SSLC book, you must produce a gazette notification of the change along with a non-creamy-layer certificate at certificate verification.
- OBC and SC / ST candidates get the age relaxations shown above; other General Conditions relaxations do not apply to the Police Constable post. [1]
For Village Field Assistant, 4% of vacancies go to differently abled candidates under G.O.(P) No. 05/2023/SJD of 1 October 2023 (Section 34 of the RPwD Act, 2016). [2]
Originals only when called
- Original documents proving qualification, experience, age and community, produced when the Commission calls for them.
- For Police: a medical certificate in the prescribed form from a government Medical Officer not below Assistant Surgeon / Junior Consultant, certifying fitness and eyesight without glasses, at the physical test or One Time Verification.
- Government orders for any equivalent or higher qualification you rely on. [1]
Battalion-wise and district-wise postings
Police Constables appointed to a battalion may transfer only to the District Armed Reserve linked to that battalion. [1]
A Village Field Assistant advised in one revenue district cannot transfer to another district until five years of continuous service there; staff already holding the post may not apply again but can apply for higher posts. [2]
