05 Reservation & certificates

The Delhi-OBC rule, EWS and own-merit selection

Only OBC (Delhi) candidates get OBC reservation or age relaxation in DSSSB. An OBC certificate from another state (OBC-Outside) is treated as Unreserved, and such candidates must apply in the UR category. [1]

  • Valid OBC certificates: (a) an OBC (Delhi) certificate issued by the Revenue Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, for a caste notified as OBC by Delhi; or (b) an OBC certificate from outside Delhi, for a caste notified as OBC by Delhi, issued on the basis of a Delhi OBC certificate of the father, siblings or real paternal uncles who lived in Delhi before 8 September 1993.
  • Dates: the OBC certificate must be issued on or before the closing date; the OBC non-creamy-layer certificate must be issued between 1 April 2025 and the closing date (for TGT 2025).
  • Category is final: the category chosen in the online form cannot be changed later.
  • Own merit: SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD candidates selected without any relaxed standard are counted against unreserved vacancies; anyone who used a relaxation (age, qualification and so on) is counted against reserved vacancies.
  • Guest teachers: one-time age relaxation for contract or guest teachers of DoE who have not used it before. [1]
