Where sailors train

  • Sailing is not among the sports at SAI's National Centres of Excellence or SAI Training Centres. Sailors train at yacht clubs and service sailing centres — the Indian Navy opened a sailing node at Bhopal's Upper Lake to draw young people into competitive water sports. [8][4]
06 Equipment costs & who pays

Boats, class fees, insurance — and who pays

  • Costs include the boat or board and sails, class-association fees, the €2 million liability insurance needed at the Games, and travel to regattas. Education Margdarshan does not print prices — no governing body publishes them. [1]

Paperwork that can sink a campaign

  • No World Sailing ranking in your class between July 2026 and June 2028 — not eligible.
  • Class-association fees unpaid or no liability insurance — not eligible.
  • Under 18 without parent consent — not eligible. [1]
09 Real-world player doubts

Starting, jobs and certificates — straight answers

I live far from the sea. Can I still sail?

Yes — sailing also happens on lakes. The Indian Navy's sailing node is on Upper Lake in Bhopal, set up to bring young people into competitive water sports. [4]

Which government jobs can sailing get me?

Central Group C posts under DoPT rules list yachting among 65 sports. Neither Western Railway's 2026-27 notice nor CRPF's 2026 sports quota had sailing posts. [10][11][12]
