Class 10 and the lateral route
- Diploma: Class 10 (10+2 system) of the MP Board of Secondary Education or any recognised board, SSC or equivalent. Admission is on a merit list made from the marks of that qualifying exam.
- Lateral entry (2nd year): Class 10 plus a 2-year (or longer) ITI course in any trade; such candidates may enter any diploma branch.
- Diploma architecture: Class 10; admission on qualifying-exam merit.
- Candidates must be Indian citizens. [1]
Candidates with a national-level sports gold medal from MP get a 10% weightage on their qualifying marks; on equal marks they are placed below candidates without the weightage. [1]
How seats are filled
- No separate entrance test is listed for diplomas in the 2026-27 rule book: merit is made from qualifying-exam marks.
- In the first counselling round, a reserved-category candidate with enough merit gets an Unreserved seat first; unfilled reserved seats move ST → SC, SC → ST, then to OBC, and finally to Unreserved.
- If seats stay vacant after the merit rounds, further rounds can be held on qualifying marks with all seats treated as Unreserved, as notified by the competent authority. [1]
