Skateboarding — Step-by-Step Roadmap

Governed by World Skate · national federation in India ·Last checked 17 Oct 2026

The whole Skateboarding journey, 0 to 100, in order: the four stages from a local club to the international level, who can start, the detailed route with trials and selection rules, where to train, who pays, and the jobs and money after. Every step is taken from the same official sources as the main Skateboarding guide.

01 Four stages, in order

Zero to podium — the four stages

  1. Stage 1 · Any age Grassroots & local entry

Learn park or street skills at a skatepark — new ones are opening, e.g. Tura in Meghalaya's Garo Hills. No SAI NCOE or STC runs skateboarding. [2][6]

  2. Stage 2 · Youth · senior National events

Skate national events to get noticed by your federation — the road to world ranking events. [1]

  3. Stage 3 · Senior World ranking events

Earn points on the World Skateboarding Ranking from 11 June 2026; the Asian Games 2026 had skateboarding. [1][3]

  4. Stage 4 · LA28 International orbit

22 per event: 20 by the World Skateboarding Ranking of 11 June 2028, 1 host, 1 universality. You must be named on the ranking. [1]

Fuel, from stage 1: food first. Pair cereals with pulses about 3:1 — roti or rice with dal, chana or rajma; vegetarians add milk or curd, others eggs, fish or meat. ICMR-NIN says most athletes get enough protein from food and protein powders are unnecessary; NADA warns that no supplement is risk-free. [11][12]

02 Physical benchmarks & anti-doping

Age rule and anti-doping

  • Skaters at LA28 must be born on or before 31 December 2014 — at least 14 by the end of 2028. [1]
  • Under the anti-doping code you must be available for testing and check every medicine against the Prohibited List; apply to NADA for a TUE if you need a banned medicine. [5]

Where skaters train

  • Skateboarding is not among SAI's NCOE or STC sports. New skateparks are opening — Meghalaya opened the first skatepark in the Garo Hills at Government College, Tura, citing big demand across the North-East. [6][2]
05 Equipment costs & who pays

Boards — and who pays

  • A board, shoes and safety gear are the main costs, plus travel to ranking events. Education Margdarshan does not print shop prices — no governing body publishes them. [1]
