Your journey, phase by phase

  1. Phase 1 · Class 11–12 Class 11–12 prerequisites PCB with English; strong biology basics.
    • You need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
    • Minimum marks are 50% General and 40% reserved categories in PCB.
    • Age of 17 years by 31 December of the admission year.
    • Understand the principles of homeopathy before choosing the course.

  2. Phase 2 · Class 12 year NEET-UG exam and admission cycle NEET-UG is the single national entrance for BHMS, held once a year by the NTA.
    • Register on the official NEET-UG portal when applications open (usually in the first quarter of the year); fill in your Class 12 details, upload photo, signature and documents, and pay the fee.
    • The exam is a single pen-and-paper test of 180 questions with 720 marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology); correct answers earn 4 marks and wrong answers lose 1 mark.
    • The exam is held in May and results come out in June; the NTA publishes an All India Rank and a category rank.
    • Qualifying percentile: 50th percentile for General, 40th for SC/ST/OBC and 45th for General-PwD candidates.
    • AYUSH counselling decides seats at homeopathy colleges, so keep an eye on the AACCC and state schedules.

  3. Phase 3 · July–October AYUSH counselling Central AACCC and state counselling allot BHMS seats.
    • Register on AACCC for All India Quota and central institutions.
    • Register on your state portal for state quota seats.
    • Shortlist colleges recognised by the National Commission for Homoeopathy.
    • Complete admission with documents and fees by the deadline.

  4. Phase 4 · Year 1–4.5 Four and a half years of study Homeopathic principles, materia medica and modern medicine.
    • First year: Anatomy, Physiology, Organon of Medicine and Homoeopathic Pharmacy.
    • Second year: Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine and Materia Medica.
    • Third and fourth years: Practice of Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Repertory and Case Taking.
    • You learn to take detailed case histories and choose remedies according to homeopathic principles.

  5. Phase 5 · Year 5.5 Internship and registration One year of clinical internship, then state registration.
    • A compulsory one-year internship in a homeopathic hospital and community postings.
    • After the internship you register with the State Board of Homoeopathy or the Central Council.
    • You may practise in clinics, government dispensaries or hospitals.
    • Check state rules regarding practice rights.
