M.Tech with stipend, direct Ph.D., PSU jobs

  • M.Tech / M.E. / direct Ph.D. in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science and Humanities at institutes funded by the Ministry of Education and other agencies; MoE norms give GATE at least 70% weight where an institute adds a test or interview.
  • Scholarship: ₹12,400 a month for M.Tech, generally for 22 months; ₹37,000 a month (years 1–2) and ₹42,000 (years 3–5) for direct Ph.D.
  • PSU recruitment: many public sector companies, such as BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, SAIL and POWERGRID, use GATE scores.
  • Qualifying GATE does not by itself guarantee admission, scholarship or a job. [6]
