Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026 — BFUHS MBBS & BDS Eligibility, Reservation, Fees & Bond
The Government of Punjab's notification of 10 July 2026 sets the admission criteria for MBBS and BDS in government and private institutes, including private universities and minority institutions, and authorises Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot to hold centralized counselling on NEET marks for all of them.
Every seat on NEET merit through BFUHS
All admissions to government quota, management quota, NRI, minority and any other seats in Punjab's government and private medical and dental institutes — including private universities and minority institutions — are made on NEET merit, through centralized counselling by BFUHS's admission committee. Candidates apply to BFUHS on its proforma for all seats except All India quota. Left-over seats are counselled by the same committee on the same merit; institutions cannot call fresh applications. [1]
- In 2026 the counselling ran a first, second and third round and an online stray vacancy round (October 2026), with separate merit lists for NRI, Sikh minority (SGRD) and Christian minority (CMC) seats. [3]
Punjab schooling, birth or residence
- Citizen of India, meeting the NEET eligibility of NTA for the year, and at least one of: passed Class 11 and 12 in Punjab; born in Punjab; or a permanent resident of Punjab.
- Permanent resident includes candidates who studied 5 years in Punjab, or the 2 years just before the qualifying exam; children of Punjab government employees (3 years' service), of central or state-undertaking employees posted in Punjab or Chandigarh for Punjab's affairs, and of Punjab government pensioners; and children of people settled or resident in Punjab for at least 5 years.
- Also eligible: wards of defence personnel posted in Punjab, NRI-category candidates and minority candidates competing for minority quota.
- If too few eligible candidates apply for BDS, candidates not eligible for state quota may be considered. [1]
Merit lists, objections, rounds
- Each round has a provisional merit list, a list revised after objections, then provisional and final seat allotment. [3]
- Apply on the BFUHS proforma after the NEET result.
- A reserved-category candidate can take a General seat on merit; such a seat is not counted against the reserved category.
- The counselling schedule follows NMC / DCI / Supreme Court / state schedules. [1]
