01 Overview & official source

One CAP for government and private MBBS and BDS seats

The State CET Cell invites online applications from candidates who qualified in NEET (UG)-2026. Admission to Government, Government Aided, Municipal Corporation, Private Unaided and other notified medical and dental colleges is made strictly on NEET (UG)-2026 merit. Separate registration with the state is compulsory for state quota seats, even if you registered for All India Quota counselling with MCC. [1]

02 Who can apply

NEET (UG)-2026 qualified, with the documents for your category

  • Qualified in NEET (UG)-2026. Mere registration gives no right to admission; it depends on eligibility and document verification.
  • Colour scans of all original documents must be uploaded; candidates who fail to upload them are not considered in the category they claimed.
  • NRI candidates register first on the separate Foreign Candidate Registration Portal. [1]
  • Reserved-category candidates (other than OBC and SEBC) without a Caste Validity Certificate at registration were treated as Open. In 2026, SC, VJ, DT, NT, OBC and SBC candidates who had applied for the certificate got three more months to submit it and were moved back to their category before CAP Round 2. [6]

Out-of-state candidates who registered with false documents in 2025 were re-verified and dropped from the process. [8]

03 CAP rounds & stray vacancy rounds

Three CAP rounds, then several online stray rounds

  • After three CAP rounds for MBBS / BDS, the Cell ran online stray vacancy rounds from mid-October 2026 for vacant seats in Government, Corporation, Aided, Private Unaided and Minority colleges.
  • Choices must be filled afresh for every stray round; choices from the earlier round become void.
  • Join the allotted college in person with original documents and fees by DD (NEFT / RTGS allowed in stray rounds). Each round has a last date to resign without penalty. [9]
  • From 2026 the institute-level round in private colleges is cancelled; every seat is filled by the Cell through online stray rounds.
  • Joining a seat allotted in a stray round is compulsory. Under Clause 20 of the brochure, a candidate who does not join a last-round seat, letting it lapse, cannot be admitted for the next two years in that group.
  • No betterment exists after the stray round. [10]
04 Tuition fees

MBBS₹1,67,300
  • Fees in private colleges are fixed by the Fees Regulating Authority (FRA); each college publishes its quota-wise fee and bank details. Check them before you fill choices. [10]

Colleges under the new private universities charge the fee fixed by that university's Fee Fixation Committee, and their students get no government scholarship or fee reimbursement. [5]

05 Quotas & private-university seats

State quota, All India quota and the 40% domicile rule

  • In 2026, three colleges joined new private universities (Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil University, Ahilyanagar and Lata Mangeshkar University, Nagpur): Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation's Medical College, N.K.P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Ranjit Deshmukh Dental College.
  • In these colleges 40% of intake is for Maharashtra domicile candidates and 60% is filled on an all-India basis, of which up to 15% is for NRIs; unfilled NRI seats go all-India from CAP Round 3. [7]
  • They joined from CAP Round 2, not Round 1. [5]
06 Document checklist

Upload originals, carry them to the college

  • Upload colour scans of every original document during registration; verification is online.
  • At joining, report to the allotted college with all original documents and the fee demand draft. [1]
  • Caste Validity Certificate for reserved categories (or proof of having applied, within the extended period). [6]
07 Social responsibility service

BDS bond yes, MBBS bond no (2026)

  • BDS students on Government / Municipal Corporation seats (GOI nominee, All India or State quota, from NEET UG 2022) must serve the Government of Maharashtra, a local body or the Defence services for one year after internship, and undertake not to leave India for five years after the degree, or pay a non-refundable ₹10,00,000 penalty.
  • Under a Government Resolution of 23 July 2026, MBBS graduates of government, municipal, private unaided and minority colleges in Maharashtra have no one-year social responsibility service. [4]
08 After allotment

Join in person, pay by DD

After each round, allotted candidates join the college in person within the joining window with all originals and the fee. On bank holidays a cheque is accepted, but it must be replaced by a DD the next working day or the admission may be cancelled. [1]
