Your journey, phase by phase

  1. Phase 1 · Class 11–12 Class 12 prerequisites Commerce with Maths is preferred by several top colleges.
    • Honours courses often prefer Commerce with Accountancy and Maths in Class 12.
    • Some colleges accept students from other streams with an additional subject requirement.
    • Check the college’s subject-combination rules in its admission bulletin.
    • Build your Class 12 marks, because honours seats at top colleges close at high cut-offs.

  2. Phase 2 · After Class 12 Admission cycle CUET-UG is the main route for central universities; private colleges set their own rules.
    • Register for CUET-UG and pick the right domain subjects for B.Com (Hons).
    • Fill in the university’s counselling form and rank your preferred colleges.
    • Take part in seat allocation rounds and accept a seat on time.
    • Keep backups, such as B.Com programme seats, in case you miss your honours cut-off.

  3. Phase 3 · Year 1–3 Honours coursework Deeper papers in accounting, finance, taxation and business analytics.
    • You study core honours papers such as Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Income Tax and Auditing.
    • You also study statistics, economics, business law and financial management in more depth than the programme degree.
    • Electives allow specialisation in areas such as banking, taxation, or analytics.
    • In the optional fourth year you can complete a research project or dissertation.

  4. Phase 4 · Year 2–3 Internships and professional courses Combine honours with a professional qualification or a skill certification.
    • Honours students often prepare for CA Foundation, CS or CMA while studying.
    • Complete at least one internship in accounting, audit or finance.
    • Learn Excel, Tally and data tools such as Power BI.
    • Join finance and commerce societies of your college.
