  1. Phase 1 · Class 10–12 School years: draw and tell stories Any stream; practise drawing, storytelling and film watching.
    • Animation and VFX courses accept students from any stream.
    • Practise drawing, sketching and character design.
    • Watch films and animation critically; study movement and timing.
    • Try free software like Blender for simple projects.

  4. Phase 4 · Year 2–3 Tools and specialisation Pick a pipeline role and master its tools.
    • 3D modelling and animation with Maya or Blender; texturing with Substance Painter.

    • 2D animation with Toon Boom or TV Paint; motion graphics with After Effects.
    • Specialise as a modeller, rigger, animator, lighting artist, compositor or VFX artist.

  5. Phase 5 · Year 3 and after Showreel, internship and studio jobs A strong showreel is your key to jobs.
    • Create a 60–90 second showreel of your best work.
    • Intern at animation and VFX studios in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.
    • Apply for junior artist roles in studios, gaming, advertising and OTT content.
    • Keep upgrading skills: real-time engines like Unreal and Unity are in demand.
